Consul General Amina Smaila has served as Consul General in Atlanta since July 2021. Dr. Smaila possess 19 years of work experience in various positions, including Acting Director of the Policy Division under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She served as. Minister at the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations in New York under the Second Committee, Third Committee and Security Council.

In addition, she served at the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations Office and other Organizations in Geneva as a Minister in charge of Technical and Specialized Agencies.

She has proven experience in Public Administration, Policy Development, International Relations and Political Science. She holds a Ph.D in International Relations from the University of Abuja and she is particularly interested in rights for women and children, policy analysis and evaluation, negotiation and conflict resolution.
